Foretold by the Prophet Isaiah

The First Advent

From Darkness to Dawn. Together we follow the prophet’s witness as the long-promised Light enters a world aching for restoration.

Isaiah’s words still speak with force. The longing for justice, mercy, and clarity remains, yet everything has been transformed by the arrival of the promised Messiah whose coming reshaped history itself.

Rooted in the promises of Isaiah, The First Advent traces the coming of the Child, the Servant, the King, offering a steady, reverent soundtrack for those who behold His glory and walk in the hope His appearing secured.

The journey concludes with reimagined hymns from voices who lived centuries apart yet testified to the same Savior. These timeless texts, shaped by authors from the 1800s and earlier, are renewed with fresh melodies that honor their faith and deepen our own.

Music shaped by Scripture and strengthened by the saints who came before us, crafted to awaken worship, anchor weary hearts, and draw the Church into the wonder of Christ’s first advent.

Redemption's Thread

Tracks

We been walkin’ in the dark
In the shadow of death
Truth down in the dust
Justice lost her breath

Our sins built a wall
‘tween us and God
Hands stained with wrongs
Peace ignored

The Lord saw it all
Saw what we’d done
No justice in the streets
Not a righteous one

But a light
Yes a light
Broke through the night
In death’s dark
That shadow grim
But a great light
Shone on them

Justice turned her back
Righteousness far
Ain’t no peace on the roads
Where the wanderers are

Truth fell in the street
No one standin’ strong
Everybody slippin’ round
Everybody doin’ wrong

The Lord saw every bit
And it grieved His heart
No one able to stand
No one fit to start

But a light
Yes a light
Broke through the night
In death’s dark
That shadow grim
But a great light
Shone on them

We been walkin’ in the dark
In that shadow land
Then His own arm moved
By His own hand

Trouble knockin’ on Judah’s door
Two kings comin’ hard for war
Hearts shakin’ like the trees in wind
Fear whisperin’ low, sneakin’ in

Then the Lord sent word to the king
Said stand in Me, don’t fear a thing
But if you won’t trust My name
You’re gonna fall, you won’t remain

Oh trust the Lord alone (Oh trust the Lord alone)
He calls you in the storm (He calls you in the storm)
When your heart goes cold with fear
He speaks His saving grace
Oh trust the Lord alone (Oh trust the Lord alone)
His word never fails (His word never fails)
His every promise will prevail
His sign proves His love

Then the Lord said ask a sign
Deep as Sheol or high in the sky
Aye-haz tried to hide his lie
Said I won’t test God no not I
But the truth was plain to see
Just words wrapped round unbelief
A king that wouldn’t obey
Wouldn’t trust the Lord that day

Oh trust the Lord alone (Oh trust the Lord alone)
He calls you in the storm (He calls you in the storm)
When your heart goes cold with fear
He speaks His saving grace
Oh trust the Lord alone (Oh trust the Lord alone)
His word never fails (His word never fails)
His every promise will prevail
His sign proves His love

So the Lord spoke back in grace
Though the king turned from His face
He declared the sign Himself
Immanuel with us to dwell
Before that child could choose the right
Their foes would fall, gone from sight
But judgment too would fill the land
For trust refused My outstretched hand

Oh trust the Lord alone (Oh trust the Lord alone)
He calls you in the storm (He calls you in the storm)
When your heart goes cold with fear
He speaks His saving grace
Oh trust the Lord alone (Oh trust the Lord alone)
His word never fails (His word never fails)
His every promise will prevail
His sign proves His love

Listen up y’all
Did ya hear the voice a cryin’
MmmHmm
Ya best be listenin’

Don’t ya know
ain’t ya heard
The Lord is God forever
King o’er the whole wide world

He made it all
But He ain’t tired
His wisdom runs deeper
Than your soul can inquire

When ya wait upon the Lord
ya rise like an eagle
ya run and don’t get weary
ya walk ‘n don’t grow feeble

Come on y’all be ready
Ready for the Lord
He’ll make it straight make it smooth
Glory outpoured

He’ll lift the valleys
He’ll make the mountains fall
He’ll make the crooked straight
He’ll smooth it out y’all

When ya wait upon the Lord
ya rise like an eagle
ya run and don’t get weary
ya walk ‘n don’t grow feeble

Even young men fall down
Even strong ones hit the ground
But the Lord gives strength again
When you ain’t got none around

He said prepare the way
The promise came to pass
The Holy One came near
And His light has dawned at last

The Lord didn’t grow tired
He helps the weary stand
He shepherds His flock
His glory’s filled the land

When ya wait upon the Lord
ya rise like an eagle
ya run and don’t get weary
ya walk ‘n don’t grow feeble

When ya wait upon the Lord
ya rise like an eagle
ya run and don’t get weary
ya walk ‘n don’t grow feeble

yeah a branch from old roots
The Lord’s Spirit rests upon Him

Held in the Lord’s

Long ago the prophet spoke
Of a child the Lord would send
Of a kingdom on His shoulders
And a peace that will not end

He said: Ki yeled yullad lanu
Ben nittan lanu
Vatehi hammisrah al shekhmo
Vayyikra shmo Pele Yo’ets
El Gibbor Avi-ad Sar Shalom

Lemarbeh hammisrah uleshah-lom ein kets
Al kise David ve’al mamlakhto
Lehakhin oto ulesa’ad oto
Bemishpat uvitstakah
Me’attah ve’ad olam
Kinat Adonai Tseva’ot ta’aseh zot

For to us a Child is born
To us a Son is given
And the government
Will be upon His shoulder

He’ll be called
Wonderful Counselor
Mighty God
Everlasting Father
Prince of Peace

A Child is born to us
A Son is given
He shall reign in peace
On David’s throne
His kingdom f’rever increasin’

A Child is born to us
A Son is given
He shall reign in peace
On David’s throne
His kingdom f’rever increasin’

For to us a Child is born
To us a Son is given
And the government
Will be upon His shoulder

He’ll be called
Wonderful Counselor
Mighty God
Everlasting Father
Prince of Peace

A Child is born to us

Ooooh the Spirit’s on that One
the Servant the Lord upholds
He’s bringin’ justice to the nations
just like the prophets foretold

He’s settin’ right what’s broken
where the world’s been doin’ wrong
Ain’t cryin’ out for notice
ain’t liftin’ His voice strong

Behold My chosen Servant
My soul’s well pleased
My Spirit rests upon Him
what He speaks is decreed

Bruised reeds ain’t a breakin’
a smolderin’ wick He’ll save
And in His name the nations
gonna hope and gonna praise

He ain’t breakin’ the bruised
ain’t snuffin’ a dyin’ flame
He keeps steady and faithful
holdin’ to His aim

He ain’t fallin’ or quittin’
He’s standin’ to the end
From the coastlands they’re waitin’
waitin’ on Him to mend

Behold My chosen Servant
My soul’s well pleased
My Spirit rests upon Him
what He speaks is decreed

Bruised reeds ain’t a breakin’
a smolderin’ wick He’ll save
And in His name the nations
gonna hope and gonna praise

God called Him in His goodness
keeps Him in His h

Who’s believed it
when the word came round
The arm of the Lord
to us was found

He grew up small
like a shoot in dust
No form no splendor
nothin’ to draw us

He was despised
folks turned their face
A man of sorrows
grief in His place

Man o’ sorrows
despised rejected
Man o’ sorrows
grief He collected

Our pains He bore
our grief He knew
And we thought
He was struck by You

But He was pierced
for the wrong we chose
Crushed for our sins
that’s how it goes

The chastisement
for our peace laid
And by His stripes
our wounds were stayed

We like sheep
wandered astray
Each our own
separate way
But the Lord laid
on Him instead
All our guilt
on His one head

Man o’ sorrows
despised rejected
Man o’ sorrows
grief He collected

Our pains He bore
our grief He knew
And we thought
He was struck by You

Oppressed afflicted
He didn’t speak
Like a lamb led quiet
to slaughter meek

By judgment taken
from life’s land torn
Who of His age
saw why He was shorn

He’d done no wrong
no deceit was found
Yet He was placed
in a wicked ground

With a rich man
His tomb assigned
Though no violence
was in His mind

Yet it pleased the Lord
to crush Him still
To make His soul
a guilt-offer fill

He’ll see His seed
and His days extend
And the Lord’s good pleasure
will in Him end

By His knowing
the righteous One
Will justify many
their load undone

He poured His soul
unto death outright
Numbered with sinners
He bore their plight

Man o’ sorrows
despised rejected
Man o’ sorrows
grief He collected

He bore the sin
of the guilty crew
And He made intercession
for the few

Hear the prophet
every word he gave
The Servant carried
our sin to the grave

Blow ye the trumpet blow
The gladly solemn sound
Let all the nations know
To earth’s remotest bound

The year of Jubilee is come
Return ye ransomed sinners home

Jesus our great High Priest
Hath full atonement made
Ye weary spirits rest
Ye mournful souls be glad

The year of Jubilee is come
Return ye ransomed sinners home

Blow the trumpet lift it high
Freedom’s song is drawing nigh

Extol the Lamb of God
The all atoning Lamb
Redemption in His blood
Throughout the world proclaim

The year of Jubilee is come
Return ye ransomed sinners home

The year of Jubilee is come
Return ye ransomed sinners home

Let all mortal hearts fall silent
As we stand in holy fear
Set aside all earthly thinking
For the Living One is near
Christ our God now walks among us
Calling every heart to hear

O praise the newborn King
O praise Him
O praise the newborn King
O praise Him
O praise the newborn King
O praise Him
O praise the newborn King
O praise Christ Jesus the Lord

He who reigns above in glory
Took on flesh in humble birth
Lord of lords in human clothing
Walking low upon the earth
He now gives His grace in mercy
Bringing weary souls their worth

O praise the newborn King
O praise Him
O praise the newborn King
O praise Him
O praise the newborn King
O praise Him
O praise the newborn King
O praise Christ Jesus the Lord

Hosts of heaven move before Him
As His light breaks through the night
From the endless realms of glory
Shining pure with holy light
Driving back the powers of darkness
As the shadows flee His light

O praise the newborn King
O praise Him
O praise the newborn King
O praise Him
O praise the newborn King
O praise Him
O praise the newborn King
O praise Christ Jesus the Lord

Angels bow before His presence
Wings unfolded at His throne
Crying holy without ceasing
Lifting praise to Him alone
Singing alleluia ever
Alleluia God alone

O praise the newborn King
O praise Him
O praise the newborn King
O praise Him
O praise the newborn King
O praise Him
O praise the newborn King
O praise Christ Jesus the Lord

Joy to the world
Let every heart come sing
The light has come among us
Our hope is in the king

Hear all creation shout
The Holy One has come
Let every weary wanderer rise
And welcome Him as One
All heaven joins the singing
All earth lifts up its voice
The mountains and the rivers ring
And all the fields rejoice

Joy to the world
Let every heart come sing
The light has come among us
Our hope is in the king

No darkness now can stay
No shadow can remain
His mercy flows like rivers wide
And heals the curse and pain
The thorns will lose their power
The sorrows fade away
His blessing moves through everything
And reaches every day

Joy to the world
Let every heart come sing
The light has come among us
Our hope is in the king

He rules with truth and grace
His righteousness shines bright
The nations stand in wonder now
Before His perfect light
His love is deeper still
His glory never ends
The whole wide world is lifted up
By grace that He extends

Joy to the world
Let every heart come sing
The light has come among us
Our hope is in the king

Ooooh, I said

Joy to the world
Let every heart come sing
The light has come among us
Our hope is in the king

Brightest and best of the sons of the morning,
Dawn on our darkness and lend us thine aid;
Star of the East, the horizon adorning,
Guide where our infant Redeemer is laid.

Shine on us (ooh shine)
Guide our way (every day)
Lead us Lord (hand in hand)
Light our day (light our day)

Cold on His cradle the dewdrops are shining,
Low lies His head with the beasts of the stall;
Angels adore Him in slumber reclining,
Maker and Monarch and Savior of all.

Shine on us (ooh shine)
Guide our way (every day)
Lead us Lord (hand in hand)
Light our day (light our day)

Shall we not yield Him, in costly devotion,
Odors of Edom and offerings divine,
Gems of the mountain and pearls of the ocean,
Myrrh from the forest and gold from the mine?

Shine on us (ooh shine)
Guide our way (every day)
Lead us Lord (hand in hand)
Light our day (light our day)

Vainly we offer each ample oblation,
Vainly with gifts would His favor secure;
Richer by far is the heart’s adoration,
Dearer to God are the prayers of the poor.

Shine on us (ooh shine)
Guide our way (every day)
Lead us Lord (hand in hand)
Light our day (light our day)

Brightest and best of the sons of the morning,
Dawn on our darkness and lend us thine aid;
Star of the East, the horizon adorning,
Guide where our infant Redeemer is laid.

Shine on us (ooh shine)
Guide our way (every day)

Light our day (light our day)

Shine on us (ooh shine)
Guide our way (every day)
Lead us Lord (hand in hand)

The Church’s one foundation
Is Jesus Christ her Lord
She is His new creation
By water and the Word
From heaven He came and sought her
To be His holy bride
With His own blood He bought her
And for her life He died

Elect from every nation
Yet one o’er all the earth
Her charter of salvation
One Lord one faith one birth
One holy name she blesses
Partakes one holy food
And to one hope she presses
With every grace endued

One Lord one faith one family
One Spirit makes us whole
Joined in Christ our living Head
One heart one hope one soul

One Lord one faith one family
One Spirit makes us whole
Joined in Christ our living Head
One heart one hope one soul

Though with a scornful wonder
Men see her sore oppressed
By schisms rent asunder
By heresies distressed
Yet saints their watch are keeping
Their cry goes up how long
And soon the night of weeping
Shall be the morn of song

Mid toil and tribulation
And tumult of her war
She waits the consummation
Of peace forevermore
Till with the vision glorious
Her longing eyes are blest
And the great Church victorious
Shall be the Church at rest

One Lord one faith one family
One Spirit makes us whole
Joined in Christ our living Head
One heart one hope one soul

Yet she on earth hath union
With God the Three in One
And mystic sweet communion
With those whose rest is won
O happy ones and holy
Lord give us grace that we
Like them the meek and lowly
On high may dwell with Thee

One Lord one faith one family
One Spirit makes us whole
Joined in Christ our living Head
One heart one hope one soul

One Lord one faith one family
One Spirit makes us whole
Joined in Christ our living Head
One heart one hope one soul

Foretold by the Prophet Isaiah

Unveiling the First Advent

Unfolding the First Advent
The prophets spoke into a world drowning in sin, longing for light, aching for restoration. This album follows that story—the slow rising of hope as God moves toward His people. Each track traces the arc of Advent: darkness acknowledged, promises spoken, paths prepared, and finally the breaking of dawn in the coming of Christ.

In the Dark, drawn from Isaiah 9:1–2 and 59, opens in humanity’s shadowed world. Injustice reigns, truth falls, and people stumble in the dark. Yet a great light is promised.

Trust the Promise, rooted in Isaiah 7:1–17, captures fear and trembling in the face of invasion. God calls His people not to collapse but to believe His word. A sign will prove His faithfulness.

Preparin’ the Way, shaped by Isaiah 40:1–5 and 28–31, announces comfort to a weary people. Valleys rise, mountains fall, and strength is renewed. God Himself is coming.

Risin’ Outta Jesse, drawn from Isaiah 11:1–5, unveils the promised King. A humble shoot becomes a righteous ruler filled with the Spirit. Justice and truth will reign.

A Son Is Given, drawn from Isaiah 7:14 and 9:6–7, sings the heart of Advent. A child. A son. A kingdom without end. His names speak His glory.

Justice for the Nations, based on Isaiah 42:1–7, reveals the Servant who brings justice with gentleness. He doesn’t break the bruised. He frees captives and shines light to the nations.

Man o’ Sorrows, anchored in Isaiah 53, descends into the suffering that purchased our peace. The promised child becomes the wounded substitute, bearing grief, sin, and judgment for His people.

Blow Ye the Trumpet, Blow, inspired by Charles Wesley (1750), proclaims freedom through the atoning Lamb. The year of Jubilee dawns through Christ’s redeeming work.

Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence, rooted in the ancient Eucharistic hymn Liturgy of St. James (4th–5th century), calls for holy awe. Heaven bends low as Christ walks among us, light scattering every shadow.

Joy to the World, inspired by Isaac Watts (1719), celebrates the breaking of the curse. The King has come. His blessing blooms in every corner of the world.

Brightest and Best, inspired by Reginald Heber (1811), lifts adoration to the newborn Redeemer. Hearts, not riches, are the offering He desires.

One Lord, One Faith, One Family, inspired by Samuel John Stone’s hymn The Church’s One Foundation (1866), closes the story with vision and hope. The child who came gathers a people—one body, one Spirit, one everlasting song.

Reflection invites the listener to stand in wonder—seeing the long-promised Light, hearing ancient words come true, and joining creation in worship of the One who stepped into darkness to bring the dawn.
