Habakkuk cries out
Over God’s silence
Amid Israel’s rampant evil
Chapter 1:1-4
Trouble walkin’ down my street
Blood on the ground can’t find no peace
Law is blind truth don’t stand
Justice is the dust slippin’ through my hands
Oh how long must I cry
Ain’t no answer fallin’ from the sky
I’m callin’ I’m callin’ but You don’t hear
Drownin’ in silence year after year
The wicked rise good men fall
Darkness laughin’ in these city walls
They break the strong chain up the weak
Where’s the power Where’s Your reach
Oh how long must I cry
Ain’t no answer fallin’ from the sky
I’m callin’ I’m callin’ but You don’t hear
Drownin’ in silence year after year
Justice bound can’t raise her hand
The law’s been twisted by a wicked man
Oh my Lord don’t turn away
If You’re listenin’ show me the way
How long oh Lord How long
Ain’t no answer just a lonesome song
Mmm how long How long
Habakkuk wrestles with God over judgement through a wicked nation chapter 1:12 to 2:1
Oh Lord You’re Holy You’re my rock my shield
But You’re lettin’ the wicked win how’s this real
They’ve cast their nets we’re losin’ this fight
But we’re your people How’s this right
Still trustin’ but feelin’ low
For cryin’ out loud I know it’s bold
I ask as the night rolls in
How can sin judge sin
Still trustin’ but feelin’ low
For cryin’ out loud I know it’s bold
I ask as the night rolls in
How can sin judge sin
You know yet they still come how can it be
The greedy rise no fear of Thee
They’ll crush us we’ll be broken in a ruthless reign
You swore to judge ’em but looks like our loss their gain
Still trustin’ but feelin’ low
For cryin’ out loud I know it’s bold
I ask as the night rolls in
How can sin judge sin
Waiting on the watchtower for you O Lord
With shakin’ hands I cling not to go overboard
I’ll hold my tongue in the dark keep still
Waitin’ on You waitin’ on Your will
I’m holdin’ on but hope’s runnin’ dry
A watchman waitin’ with weary eyes
I’ll wait for You oh Lord To reply
Correct my heart Don’t pass me by
Cryin’ out loud I know its bold
My God my God why is it so
I’ll wait for You Lord To reply
Correct my heart Don’t pass me by
God condemns wicked ways offering hope for the faithful chapter 2 verses 2 to 20
Write this vision make it plain
Runners keep on runnin’
The time is set it won’t be late
Ain’t no doubt judgment’s comin’
Be warned of thirst for power
Stackin’ up gold like a tower
Stealin’ grabbin’ claimin’ your throne
But when they rise you’re all alone
When you build on lies it crumbles
What you make can’t stay
The hands that hold power
Gonna tremble on judgment day
Pity the man with a hollow soul
Took from others to make him whole
Buildin’ a house on another’s pain
But the walls ‘r cryin’ out he’s to blame
When you build on lies it crumbles
What you make can’t stay
The hands that hold power
Gonna tremble on judgment day
You can’t rise by shamin’ others
Strippin’ ’em down takin’ their cover
But the shame you gave gon’ double back
Comin’ ’round right on track
What good’s your god that can’t speak
Just a rock just a stone can’t hear can’t move
Can’t teach can’t save can’t show the way
And won’t stand on judgment day
The Lord stands high in His holy place
Man’s glory fades can’t hide its face
The earth goes quiet the proud break
Yet God stands firm He doesn’t shake
Let the earth be still let it wait
The Judge reigns high settin’ it straight
Lifts the low breaks the strong
And the Lord alone is rollin’ on
When you build on lies it crumbles
What you make can’t stay
The hands that hold power
Gonna tremble on judgment day
Habakkuk turns to God lamenting Israel’s position while trusting in God’s mercy chapter three verses one and two
Oh Lord I have heard of Your mighty fame
The stories of old honor Your name
Shakin’ the earth making nations bow
Leavin’ me in awe I’m trembling now
Oh Lord I hear you loud and clear
I’m standin’ in awe heart full of fear
In Your time let Your work come alive
In Your wrath please let mercy survive
In Your time let Your hand be revealed
Show Your power let the broken be healed
Bring forth Your works that our hearts may believe
Renew Your wonders as in days we’ve received
Oh Lord I hear you loud and clear
I’m standin’ in awe heart full of fear
In Your time let Your work come alive
In Your wrath please let mercy survive
When Your judgment rolls and justice is done
Let mercy shine brighter than the morning sun
Though Your wrath may fall let grace still remain
Hold back destruction let compassion sustain
Oh Lord I hear you loud and clear
I’m standin’ in awe heart full of fear
In Your time let Your work come alive
In Your wrath please let mercy survive
Oh Lord I hear you loud and clear
I’m standin’ in awe heart full of fear
In Your time let Your work come alive
In Your wrath please let mercy survive
Habakkuk sees a vision of God’s terrifying glory
Sweeping over creation chapter three verses three to six
God rises from the ridge
Where the sky turned red
Where the fire fell down
And the people hid
You’ve shaken the past
We’re waiting for more
The earth still trembles
At what’s in store
His glory fills
The earth and sky
When perfection’s revealed
We are all terrified
You’ve shaken the past
We’re waiting for more
The earth still trembles
At what’s in store
The ancient hills
Bow down and break
The Holy One makes
Kingdoms shake
You’ve shaken the past
We’re waiting for more
The earth still trembles
At what’s in store
Your judgment thunders
But You speak grace
Your hand holds back
The end of this place
Habakkuk trembles before God overwhelmed by His righteousness
He rejoices not in circumstances but in the God who sustains him
A timeless realization of our inadequacy and His surpassing glory
Chapter three verse 16 through the end of the book
Our lips ain’t clean
I tremble at Your sound
Your victory is sure still I await
Till the wicked one’s bound
Whom have I in heaven but You
My strength fails but You are true
My heart breaks as I fall
But You O Lord are my all in all
If every blessing
Is torn away
Still I will praise you
My faith is here to stay
Whom have I in heaven but You
My strength fails but You are true
My heart breaks as I fall
But You O Lord are my all in all
You’re the mountain top
Where I strive to stand
You steady my steps
With Your sovereign hand
Whom have I in heaven but You
My strength fails but You are true
My heart breaks as I fall
But You O Lord are my all in all
Whom have I in heaven but You
My strength fails but You are true
My heart breaks as I fall
But You O Lord are my all in all
This ain’t just ancient history
This is the cry
Of every true child of God
Who has looked upon the suffering in this world
And dared to ask why
Not with irreverence
But with a heart
Broken by evil confused by pain holding to the belief
That God is still holy
The prophet saw what we see
Violence in the streets
Corruption in the courts
Injustice all around
And like us he wrestled with the question
How can a God who is pure permit such evil
How can the Holy One use darkness
And still remain light
And God answered
Not with explanations to satisfy the curious
But with a revelation to humble the proud
He gave the prophet no comfort
Only Himself
And when the prophet finally saw the Lord
He trembled he was undone
His questions did not disappear
But his arrogance did
He learned to wait
To trust to worship
Even in the silence
This is not for the comfortable
This is for the broken
For those betrayed grieving wounded
And those still waiting
For those who have prayed
And heard no answer
But refuse to let go
Of God who sustains
Have you ever stood before God and trembled
It is a good thing to be undone
We are blind proud entitled
And it is mercy when God breaks us
That’s right I meant it
It’s a good thing to be undone
God is holy
And we forget that we are not
From Lament Through Shock to Trust
Unveiling the Biblical Tapestry
The prophet Habakkuk cried out in confusion over God’s silence and wrestled with the justice of His ways. This album follows his journey—from questioning and fear to trembling faith and steady worship. Each track gives voice to the tension of waiting, the pain of injustice, and the hope that remains when God alone is our portion.
Drownin’ in Silence, drawn from Habakkuk 1:1–4, opens with desperate lament. The prophet sees injustice everywhere and pleads for an answer, but heaven seems silent.
Judgment’s Comin’, based on Habakkuk 1:5–11, delivers God’s unsettling reply: judgment is coming through a violent nation. What feels like silence was divine preparation.
Wrestling with God, shaped by Habakkuk 1:12–2:1, captures the prophet’s inner turmoil. How can a holy God use the wicked? He wrestles—but waits.
No Escape, drawn from Habakkuk 2:2–20, declares coming judgment on the proud. Every injustice will be answered. The faithful are called to live by faith, not fear.
Remember Mercy, rooted in Habakkuk 3:1–2, is a prayer whispered in awe. The prophet remembers God’s power and asks for mercy even in wrath.
Weight of Glory, based on Habakkuk 3:3–6, unveils God’s terrifying majesty. Creation trembles before Him. Holiness is not safe—but it is good.
Crushin’ the Foe, shaped by Habakkuk 3:7–15, celebrates God’s justice. He rises to save, crushing evil and delivering His people in power.
Whom Have I but You?, drawn from Habakkuk 3:16–19, closes in quiet resolve. Though everything fails, the prophet rejoices in God—his strength, his song.
Reflection is a modern response. It invites the listener to join the prophet: to weep, to wait, and to worship a God who is holy even when we don’t understand.
